  • Do I need to purchase any equipment for the Muay Thai classes?
Yes, we highly recommend to use your own boxing gloves, boxing wraps, shin guards and mouth guard which are available at Decathlon (our favourite), Central Chaengwattana, at the gym (Fight To Firm Club) and other sport stores. Note: We do offer 3 pairs of boxing gloves, 3 sets of wraps and a set of shin guards for general use. However this is mainly for the trial classes.
  • What language is spoken by the instructor during class?
The main language spoken by our instructors is English. However our chief instructor (Maurice) speaks English, Dutch and Thai.
  • Can I park my car, golf cart, bike or motorcycle here?
Yes, there is plenty of parking spots to park your car, golf cart or motorbike here. There are two sides to park your vehicle; - In front of the main entrance, next to the football field in the back. - At the side of the gym, coming from Samakkhi road.
  • I do not want to spar or my child to spar, is this possible?
Yes, we can tailor to the wishes of the client. There are many degrees of sparring and we can customise the drills to create a win-win situation. For example, parents of person A do not want him/her to spar out of precaution to injuries and person B wants to spar and has approval from his/her parents. Both could still ''role-spar'' each other where person A has the role as the attacker, focussing on scoring points and person B the role as defender focussing on defending without attacking back. This way we create a win-win situation where person A and B still receive the benefits of sparring whilst honouring the request of their parents. Other option is to skip sparring, role-sparring all together and replacing this with an alternative drill/exercise such as heavy bag drills.
  • What is Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is the “Art of eight limbs”, a traditional Martial Art that originated in Thailand all the way back in the 18th century. Many people refer to it as Thai Boxing or Kickboxing, however Muay Thai is much more than just Kickboxing. There are many traditions that go along with this beautiful art, similar to how many other martial arts share values and historical traditions. Muay Thai is referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” or the “Science of Eight Limbs”, because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact”. This is of course opposed to “two points” (fists) in boxing and “four points” (hands and feet) used in other more regulated combat sports, such as kickboxing. A practitioner of Muay Thai is known as a nak muay. No matter what you call it, Muay Thai has evolved and transformed today to millions worldwide. No matter where you are in the world I almost guarantee there will be a gym within striking distance. With famous Thai fighters like Buakaw and Saenchai fighting worldwide, Muay Thai doesn’t have any plans to stop growing.
  • What is a Muay Thai class like?
In a typical class, you will warm up as a group. This involves skipping rope/running, some mobility and stretching, and shadowboxing. After the warm-up, you will likely learn new techniques to practice either on your own, with a partner or with a trainer. Depending on the class you drill techniques on the bag, thai kicking pads, or against a partner who is also wearing gear. More advanced students will get to participate in sparring and clinching. In between rounds or after training on the bag and pads, there’s is usually a body conditioning component such as core strength training and other calisthenics. Professional fighters in Thailand train similarly. The fundamentals are the same, but there is more of a focus on sparring, clinching, and they train longer, harder, and more often than beginners.
  • What is your policy on canceling a Personal Training or Private Session?
Cancellations for personal training or private sessions are allowed up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. If you cancel within this period, your session will not be deducted from your remaining sessions. However, same-day cancellations will be considered a no-show, and the session will be deducted from your remaining balance. We understand that sometimes unexpected events happen, and we strive to respect everyone’s time and schedule. If a coach would cancel a session last minute, an additional session will be added to your remaining sessions as a gesture of respect and fairness.
  • Can I bring a friend to my session?
Yes, you're welcome to bring a friend to your session! However, please inform us in advance so we can properly plan the session and ensure that the group size remains manageable, especially during group classes. This allows us to provide the best experience for everyone involved.
  • Do you offer training for children under 12 years old?
Training for children under 12 is available, but it depends on various factors such as the child's previous martial arts experience, attention span, and overall readiness. Each child is different, so we assess on a case-by-case basis to ensure the training is suitable and beneficial for them. Please contact us to discuss your child's specific needs to assess what approach would make the best fit.
  • What holidays will the gym be closed?
The gym is generally open every day, with the exception of ISB summer, winter, and Songkran holidays. For specific closure dates, please refer to the calendar on our website.
  • Are you affiliated with Fight To Firm Club?
I am not affiliated with Fight To Firm Club. However, I do rent the Muay Thai and Fitness area within their facility to train my own clients. While we share the gym space during our sessions, my training programs and memberships are entirely independent of Fight To Firm Club. This arrangement allows us to utilize their facilities while providing a distinct and personalized training experience for my clients.
